#194 Under The Sea or At The Beach

The team have been having a well deserved Summer break but we are back now and raring to go.

Sadly, two of the team, Sally and Pam have decided to leave us. Thank you Sally and Pam for all your support over the last couple of years. We wish you both well in the future.

Judy is hosting our challenge today, and the theme is either Under The Sea, or At The Beach.

As usual anything you care to enter is fine, a card, scrap layout, mixed media piece, some home decor, as long as it's matches either of the two above themes.

Please remember our 15 total challenge rule!

Some inspiration from our fabulous DT

Judy

I saw a wall plaque with the saying "Let your cares drift away" and that it would make a nice card using my new Stampendous set of sailboat rubber stamps and a Tim Holtz set of tree. I coloured my sailboats and my scene with watercolours, wink of Stella and a white gel pen.

Josephine

For this, I've used an image and paper from the Joanna Sheen Josephine Wall CDRom Enchanted Dreams. I layered an image and a cropped version of the same image in Photoshop Elements and added a fish embellishment.

Jackie

My card this time was for a little girl who loved Ariel the Mermaid... so I made a "fishtank" that folded flat for her birthday card! I used a scene and some images from a sticker set I had in my stash, and combined it with some embossed acetate for the bubbles and some christmas tree decoration to be the seaweed...

Angela

More Distress Oxides for the background which makes great looking sea. The dies were by Memory Box and Tim Holtz. I finished it with clear gems to represent the bubbles.

Glenda

Theme At the Beach: image 'Gloria' by Mo Manning, designer paper DCWV paperstack called Razzel Dazzel, and a Cherry Lynn die cut. .

Mary

I used a sheet from La Pashe Ltd's The Wrinkles at the Movies and added card and acetate to make a 'porthole'.

Margaret

This one was a little difficult for me as I had nothing really 'Beachy' in my stash. The background paper put me in mind of a run down Beach Shack but I couldn't find an appropriate image so settled for a run down Life Saver watch tower instead. The chippie represents fishing nets, the micro beads for sand and the sisal represents the dried grasses etc. that you find in the dunes.

194 Under The Sea or At The Beach2
I created my Under The Sea card by starting with a gelli plate and finishing with lots of diecuts! More details on my blog

Jac

I couldn't decide how to colour this cute little fella up so instead I went with paper piecing and love how he turned out. He is Simon the Seahorse and is from Simply B stamps. I have used papers from MME and teamed it up with some coloured cs for the banner and sea shells which were all cut on the Cricut. The paper that Simon is matted onto has been inked with 3 different distress inks and I finished off with a stamped sentiment and some liquid pearls.

Marlene

I have used a Dis Digi Design stamp, coloured with Promarkers, Lawn Fawn Sun Die, Die-namics Pierced and Plain Dies and shells from the beach.

June

I have used Distress Inks for the background, a few real shells, dies to cut and emboss the fish, reeds, anchor and sentiment

Peggy

I couldn't think of another image that matched the theme as much as this one. This is a Conie Fong image. This scene is from a Kit and Clowder Monthly Class. I colored it with Prismacolor Pencils.
